Moving Longueuil to Windsor

Long-distance move between Longueuil and Windsor

From Longueuil, the truck bypasses Montreal on Highway 30 and joins Highway 20 west, then follows Highway 401 along its whole length, through Kingston, Toronto and London, to Windsor, at the southwestern tip of Ontario. The trip is about 905 km.

As with our other long-distance moves, the same crew handles loading, transport and delivery, with furniture protected for the road.

Our company is on rue Sainte-Hélène in Longueuil, so the crew reaches you quickly. From a Saint-Hubert bungalow to an Old Longueuil condo, we plan the departure around your home. For a local move, see our Moving Longueuil page.

When leaving Longueuil, clear the driveway or the space in front of your door the day before so the truck can park as close as possible. In an Old Longueuil tower or near the metro, book the service elevator and loading dock with building management.

Windsor, Canada’s southernmost city, faces Detroit across the Detroit River. A major centre of the automotive industry, it is linked to the United States by the Ambassador Bridge and is home to the University of Windsor.

This route is not one of our published packages: we organize it like our other long-distance moves, with a price set by free quote. With nearly ten hours on the road, the move is planned over two days.

The route from Longueuil to Windsor

From Longueuil, the truck avoids the island of Montreal on Highway 30, then joins Highway 20 west at Vaudreuil-Dorion into Ontario. It then follows Highway 401 through Kingston, crosses the Toronto area, and continues through London and Chatham to Windsor. The route stays entirely in Canada: the truck does not cross the U.S. border.

Allow about 9 hours 40 minutes of driving, not counting breaks: the trip is done over two days. The Toronto crossing is planned outside rush hour whenever possible. Windsor is in the same time zone as Quebec.

Preparing your move from Longueuil to Windsor

For a move of this distance, allow a few weeks of preparation: a detailed inventory, well-sealed and labelled boxes, and a list of valuables you keep with you. In Ontario, remember your driver’s licence, vehicle registration and OHIP registration.

Pack a suitcase for the two days on the road and your first days in Windsor. Let us know if any furniture needs to be taken apart or given extra protection.

Leaving Longueuil: access and parking

Clear the driveway or the space in front of your door the day before. If the truck has to park on the street, check the City of Longueuil rules for your moving date.

In Old Longueuil towers or near the metro, book the service elevator and loading dock for a long enough time slot, and tell us where the delivery entrance is.

Arriving in Windsor: access and parking

Windsor’s older neighbourhoods, near downtown and the river, have narrow houses with shared driveways; newer areas and the neighbouring towns of LaSalle and Tecumseh mostly have houses with garages.

Tell us if the driveway is shared, the floor and where the truck can park. Check on-street parking rules with the City of Windsor for moving day.

How the price of a move to Windsor is set

This route is not one of our published packages: the price is set by quote, based on your move. It mainly depends on four things:

  • Volume: the number of rooms, pieces of furniture and boxes to load, which determines the truck and crew;
  • Access: floors, outdoor stairs, elevator and the distance between the truck and the door, at both ends;
  • Date: prices may vary during the peak period, in late June and early July;
  • Added services, such as packing, a piano or a pool table.

Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote: give us both addresses, your preferred date and a list of your furniture. You can also call us at 514-703-6147.
