Repentigny, in the L’Assomption RCM in the Lanaudière region, has about 88,000 residents, making it one of the larger cities northeast of Montreal. Bordered by the St. Lawrence River and the Rivière L’Assomption, it brings together the former city of Repentigny and Le Gardeur, once known as Saint-Paul-l’Ermite. Parc de l’Île-Lebel, on the river, hosts the Festival Feu et Glace every winter.
The city is mostly single-family and semi-detached homes, often with a garage, a basement and a shed, along with apartment buildings along the main roads.

Repentigny station, on exo’s Mascouche line, is in the Le Gardeur sector.
