Lachenaie is one of the oldest settlements on the North Shore: the parish was founded in 1683 along the Rivière des Mille Îles. A former independent town, it has been part of Terrebonne since the 2001 merger. Saint-Charles Road, laid out on the old Chemin du Roy, still follows the river with its older houses, while to the north large residential neighbourhoods, commercial areas along Highway 640 and Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital have developed, mostly since the 1990s.
An older house by the water, a family home, a semi-detached or a recent condo: moves in Lachenaie are varied. Déménagement Bon Avenir works here regularly and adapts the crew and the truck to each address.
We cover the whole area: old Lachenaie along Saint-Charles Road and the river, the neighbourhoods of single-family and semi-detached homes on both sides of Montée des Pionniers, the condo buildings and townhouses near Highway 640, and the newer developments to the north.
We also serve the neighbouring towns and areas: Terrebonne, Mascouche, Repentigny, Charlemagne, as well as the Montreal borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, reached via Highway 40.
Highway 640 crosses Lachenaie from west to east and meets Highway 40 in Charlemagne, a direct route to the east end of Montreal. Toward Laval or downtown, Highway 25 is reached through Terrebonne. Montée des Pionniers, the area’s north–south artery, is often busy at rush hour around the shops and the hospital, so we take traffic into account when planning our arrival time and take care not to obstruct the hospital’s access routes.
Saint-Charles Road is narrower and lined with houses set close to the street. We look for the most practical spot for the truck ahead of time, sometimes on a side street.
In the older houses along Saint-Charles Road, stairs and doorways are often narrow, so we protect the frames and take large furniture apart when needed. For a full single-family house, we usually recommend 3 movers with a 30-foot truck.
In condo buildings, book the elevator and check the permitted moving hours with management. For a new home, confirm the key handover time and driveway access with the builder.
