From Longueuil, the truck bypasses Montreal on Highway 30 to Vaudreuil-Dorion, then continues on Highway 20, which becomes Highway 401 at the Ontario border, to Cornwall. The trip is about 130 km.

When leaving Longueuil, clear the driveway or the space in front of your door the day before so the truck can park as close as possible. In an Old Longueuil tower or near the metro, book the service elevator and loading dock with building management.
Cornwall, the Ontario city closest to Quebec, sits on the St. Lawrence, across from New York State. A large share of its population speaks French, and you will find French-language schools, services and businesses there.

From Longueuil, the truck avoids the island of Montreal: it takes Highway 30, crosses the St. Lawrence on the A-30 bridge near Beauharnois and reaches Vaudreuil-Dorion. It then continues west on Highway 20 to Rivière-Beaudette, where it becomes Highway 401, and exits at Cornwall.
Allow about 1 hour 30 minutes of driving, not counting breaks; traffic around Montreal can lengthen the trip at rush hour. Loading, the drive and delivery are done on the same day. Cornwall is in the same time zone as Quebec.
Even for a short trip, moving to Ontario involves a few steps: exchanging your driver’s licence, registering your vehicle and signing up for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Plan them as soon as your date is set.
Make an inventory of your furniture and tell us about heavy or fragile items. Keep your ID, your lease or purchase papers and your keys with you.
