From Montreal, the truck crosses the river through the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel and follows Highway 20 east, then Route 116 through Victoriaville and Plessisville, and finally Route 165 through the Appalachians to Thetford Mines. The trip is about 230 km.

Thetford Mines, in the Appalachian region of Chaudière-Appalaches, was built around asbestos mines; the large grey tailings piles around it still recall that past. Today the city focuses on the outdoors, with Frontenac National Park and Lac Saint-François close by.

It continues on Route 116 to Plessisville, then takes Route 165, which crosses Saint-Ferdinand and the Appalachian hills before reaching Thetford Mines through the Black Lake sector.
Allow about 2 hours 50 minutes of driving, not counting breaks. The last part is on two-lane roads: in winter, snow can slow traffic. The move is usually done in a single day, depending on volume and loading time.
