Lorraine is a small North Shore town in the Thérèse-De Blainville RCM, founded in 1960 on the former Garth estate. It was designed from the start as a residential town: curving streets and crescents instead of a grid, large wooded lots, plenty of green space and almost no commercial activity. The Grand Côteau forest to the north and the Domaine Garth riverside promenade to the south frame its neighbourhoods.
Most moves here involve large single-family homes, often lived in for many years and well filled. Déménagement Bon Avenir works in Lorraine regularly and plans the crew, the truck and the time this type of property needs.
Highway 640 crosses the town and splits it into two areas: to the north, the residential streets near the Grand Côteau forest; to the south, the neighbourhoods that slope down toward the Rivière des Mille Îles and the Domaine Garth. We cover both areas, as well as the crescents and dead-end streets branching off De Gaulle Boulevard.
We also serve the neighbouring towns: Rosemère, Blainville, Terrebonne, Sainte-Thérèse and Boisbriand, as well as Bois-des-Filion.
De Gaulle Boulevard is Lorraine’s main road, and its overpass above Highway 640 is the only link between the northern and southern parts of town. For a move within Lorraine or to a neighbouring town, we plan the route around this single crossing. Toward Laval and Montreal, we reach Highway 15 or Highway 25 via the 640, depending on the destination and the time of day.
On curving streets and crescents, the truck has to be placed so neighbours can still get by. We pick the spot ahead of time and adjust the truck size when the street is narrow or the driveway is sloped.
Homes in Lorraine often have a finished basement, a double garage and plenty of furniture gathered over the years. For a full house, we usually recommend 3 movers with a 30-foot truck. On wooded lots, low branches over the driveway can get in the way of a tall truck, so let us know about them ahead of time.
Many long-time owners leave a large house for a condo or a retirement residence. In that case, sort your belongings before moving day and tell us clearly what goes and what stays, so we can match the truck size and the crew to the actual volume.
