Moving Montreal West

Moving Montreal West – professional movers at the best price

Montreal West (Montréal-Ouest) is an independent town of 1.37 km² with about 5,100 residents (2021 census), bordered by Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and Côte-Saint-Luc. Incorporated in 1897, it was merged into Montreal in 2002 and became independent again in 2006. Its nickname, “the Garden Suburb,” reflects its tree-lined streets and many small parks.

Housing is mostly single-family homes, detached or semi-detached, often on several floors with a basement. Westminster Avenue, between Sherbrooke Street and Curzon Street, is the town’s main commercial street, and Sherbrooke Street ends here, at its western end.

Areas served in Montreal West

We cover the whole town, from the shops on Westminster Avenue to the residential streets around Strathearn, Davies and Hodgson parks, as well as the area near the Montréal-Ouest train station, just east of the town limits.

We also serve the nearby areas: Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Côte-Saint-Luc, Hampstead, Lachine and Westmount.

Older family homes, stairs and parking

In older multi-storey homes, the stairs between floors can be narrow or have a turn: measure large pieces such as sofas, dressers and box springs, and mention them in your quote request so we can plan the right protection and enough time.

Montreal West is a separate town, not a Montreal borough: to reserve a parking space for the truck, or to check whether a permit is needed, contact the Town of Montréal-Ouest a few days before moving day.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a move in Montreal West cost?

Our rates start at $130/h for 2 movers with a 20-foot truck, with a minimum of 2 hours of work plus 1 hour of travel. All options are listed on our prices page.

How many movers do I need for a family home in Montreal West?

For a full house, we usually recommend 3 movers with a 30-foot truck, starting at $175/h, with a minimum of 4 hours of work plus 1 hour of travel. For a smaller home, 2 movers with a 20-foot truck are often enough.

Can I hire movers without a truck in Montreal West?

Yes. If you already have a vehicle, we offer 2 movers without a truck starting at $100/h, with a minimum of 2 hours of work plus 1 hour of travel.

Can you pack our home for us?

Yes. Our packing and unpacking service can handle all or part of your belongings, for example the kitchen or the basement, before moving day.

Can the railway crossing on Westminster Avenue affect moving day?

It can. Westminster Avenue crosses the Canadian Pacific tracks at a level crossing, where a passing train can stop traffic for a few minutes. If the truck has to cross the tracks between your two addresses, a short wait is possible, so give us both addresses when you request your free quote and we can plan the route.

Our house is very old. Is there anything special to plan?

Many Montreal West homes are several decades old, some with original wood floors, plaster walls and narrow doorways. Point out fragile areas and measure your door openings before moving day, so our movers can take extra care in those spots.
