Lachine is a borough in the southwest of the island of Montreal, on the shore of Lake Saint-Louis, where the Lachine Canal begins; the canal opened in 1825. Old Lachine still has historic houses, including the Le Ber-Le Moyne House, one of the oldest on the island. Many condos have been built along the water, while further north the streets are mostly lined with plexes and small apartment buildings, up to the industrial area near Highway 20.
An old house, a plex with an outdoor staircase or a condo with an elevator: every move in Lachine needs different preparation. Déménagement Bon Avenir works here regularly and adapts the crew, the equipment and the schedule to your building.
We cover the whole borough: Old Lachine and the streets along the lake and Saint-Joseph Boulevard, the central neighbourhoods around Notre-Dame Street and the numbered avenues, the Saint-Pierre area to the east, and the new buildings along the canal and near René-Lévesque Park.
We also serve the neighbouring areas: Dorval, LaSalle, Verdun and Côte-Saint-Luc, as well as the rest of the West Island.
Saint-Joseph Boulevard follows the lakeshore, with a busy bike path along it. We place the truck while avoiding blocking the bike path, often on a side avenue. On Notre-Dame Street, a commercial strip, parking is often hard to find during the day, so we prefer an early-morning start there.
Highway 20 crosses the north of Lachine and gives quick access to downtown outside rush hour, as well as Dorval and the rest of the West Island. For Saint-Laurent or the airport, Highway 520 is close by.
In Old Lachine, older houses often have narrow doors, steep stairs and delicate floors: we protect them and take large furniture apart when needed. In plexes, tell us what type of outdoor staircase you have. For a condo, book the service elevator and the loading dock, and check the moving hours allowed by the building rules.
In winter, watch for snow-removal signs: once they are posted, parking on the street is banned during the operation, trucks included. Let us know if this happens and we will adjust the schedule or the truck’s position.
