Côte-des-Neiges spreads across the northwest slope of Mount Royal, in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough. It is one of Montreal’s most populated and diverse neighbourhoods, home to Saint Joseph’s Oratory, the Université de Montréal campus, HEC Montréal and Polytechnique, as well as major hospitals such as the Jewish General Hospital and CHU Sainte-Justine.
Most residents rent: students, families, hospital and university staff. Moves here mostly involve apartments, in plexes with stairs or in buildings with elevators. Déménagement Bon Avenir works here regularly and adapts the crew and the schedule to each building.
We cover the whole neighbourhood: the Oratory and Queen Mary Road area, the student streets around Decelles Avenue and Jean-Brillant Street, the large buildings along Côte-des-Neiges Road, the Snowdon area near the Décarie Expressway, and the streets around Victoria and Van Horne Avenues to the north.
We also serve the neighbouring areas: Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Outremont, Town of Mount Royal, Westmount and Hampstead.
Côte-des-Neiges Road and the streets around the Oratory and Queen Mary Road are steep, which calls for extra care in winter and careful loading. Near the hospitals, we take care to place the truck without obstructing emergency access.
Many streets in the neighbourhood are reserved for residents with a permit sticker. To park the truck in front of your door, a permit from the borough is often required, so check a few days before moving day. The area is well served by the metro, with Côte-des-Neiges, Université-de-Montréal, Snowdon and Plamondon stations, and the Décarie Expressway (Highway 15) gives quick access to Highways 20 and 40.
In plexes and small walk-up buildings, the staircase is often narrow, so measure your largest pieces ahead of time and tell us the floor. In the large buildings along Côte-des-Neiges Road, book the service elevator and the loading dock with management, and check the permitted moving hours.
Near the Université de Montréal, student leases often end at the same time, at the end of each term and around July 1st. For a studio or small apartment, 2 movers with a 20-foot truck are usually enough, so book early for these periods.
