McMasterville was founded in 1917 to house the workers of Canadian Explosives Limited, and something of that origin remains: an older core with a regular street grid, set along the Richelieu River, surrounded by much newer residential neighbourhoods. Since the commuter rail station opened in 2003, the town has grown quickly and moves happen here all year round.

Route 116 runs through the town and remains the fastest way toward Saint-Hubert, Longueuil and the tunnel; at rush hour we adjust the departure time rather than leave the truck sitting in traffic. In winter, sloping driveways and uncleared parking areas are the first cause of delay: having them cleared and sanded the day before, at both addresses, saves a great deal of time during loading.
